About the Course

Our Roblox Game Design World program is designed for students who are comfortable with online learning, have some tech experience and who wish to develop their Roblox Studio game design knowledge and skills.

Roblox is built on the Lua programming language, which is used in many well known applications including; Adobe Lightroom, Minecraft and Lego Mindstorms, with approximately 150 million active users programming and sharing their games everyday.

In this program, students interested in coding, 3D design, and game design, will explore the Roblox Studio toolset, practice building code solutions to drive game features, and finally create their own game.

Moving through our Explorer, Builder, Creator course framework students gain knowledge in the Roblox development environment to combine 3D design, coding and project planning. They will then progress to more complex animation, Virtual Effects (VFX), and approach themes of digital citizenship in online communities and collaborations.

By the end of the program students will create their own 'virtual museum' around a topic of personal interest, with a weighting towards socially-impactful issues. In this way, our students further develop their creative, collaborative and global skills.

Students explore the essential processes and tools behind game development with Roblox Studio.

Students discuss Roblox programming language, Lua, and learn to identify important elements.

Students plan and execute a mini-project, making use of basic Roblox Studio tools.

Roblox Builder

Students learn the essentials of Roblox Studios programming language Lua.

Students discuss game features, and break them down to understand the code solutions behind them.

Students build their own code-driven game features.

Roblox Creator

Students are able to brainstorm a creative game with Roblox Studio.

Students can break down their game into simple steps.

Students create and present their self-planned game. Completed games can be published to the web or mobile devices.

Roblox Game Design World Class in Action

A sample activity for this program would have students will complete the Roblox Volcano Island challenge, in which they will have to use 3D design and coding skills to make it safely to the end of a course. Students will need to build 3D bridges, configure Lua scripts to disarm traps, and access the system server storage module to change the weather.
